What is Town Twinning?
Town twinning is about meeting and getting to know people from other cultures. Maybole is twinned with towns in France, Germany and Belgium, and has close partnerships with towns in Italy and the Czech Repbulic.
We visit each other and stay in each other's homes to really get a feel for what daily life is like. Visits usually take place over a long weekend, and activites and social events will be part of the schedule, but you also have time to get to know your host family, find out about their life, and try to communicate!
We usually find that although there are differences between us, there are far more things that we have in common.
Who Can Get Involved?
Anyone who lives in North Carrick can get involved - you don't need to live in Maybole. You don't need to be able to speak the language, or even be able to host a family. You can get involved as much, or as little as you want. Some members go on visits, but don't host. Others host, but don't travel. Some people just attend the social events for members.
We wil be organising a number of social events through the year for twinning members in the area, including barbecues, treasure hunts and quizzes.
